How it Goes: We meet one-to-one for 60 minutes (unless we have established something different!) & you will discuss what feels important to you. We work collaboratively on your intentions for our session & in navigating any challenges or struggles you may be experiencing. Your job is to come exactly as you are—who you are is good. Let’s work with that!
Therapy versus Coaching: People seek therapy or coaching for a wide variety of reasons. Here are some examples of what brings people in: healing the past, navigating the future, obtaining assistance with relationship struggles, a desire to live more authentically, help with assertiveness, or to feel empowered (just to name a few!).
With coaching, we get real clear real fast on what you would like to be working toward. I absolutely ADORE working with women on the brink of making real, authentic, & meaningful change in their lives! (men are of course welcome too, but women’s concerns are my specialty area!) You will leave our session with more clarity on next steps for your vision and with some invaluable strategies, ideas, and a manageable to-do list to get you going (or to slow you down if that’s what’s needed). Remember that YOU are the one seeking change, so although I will help you in every way I possibly can when we meet, it is YOUR readiness & willingness to change that will impact your results!
In therapy, we will move you forward, but will also spend a bit more time focusing on the past hurts or happenings that are impacting you today. While I do not spend a TON of time in the past with you, I do use it to inform my understanding of how I can best help you to move forward. And, of course, every situation varies…so some sessions may require we work through a lot of your history and other times we will be working on what you can do NOW to help you live your life more peacefully, gracefully, & joyfully.
How Often: This absolutely varies on what we will be working on! Some clients prefer to work together for a brief period of time to resolve a particular issue (about 6-8 sessions) and others would prefer a more long-term therapeutic relationship. Coaching clients may find they are able to get what they need in terms of vision and next steps in 1-2 visits. I am open to what feels right for you.
