About Couples Therapy: I see couples therapy as an opportunity for individuals in relationship to learn improved ways of communicating with one another & connecting in a manner that feels authentic & nourishing for those involved. One of the things I love most about therapeutic work with couples is helping each individual uncover peaceful ways to negotiate the challenge of being human & tending to another human’s wants & needs in a kind & loving way.
How It Goes: In couples work, I take a neutral stance so that both members of the relationship feel supported, encouraged & cared for. I totally understand how awkward & difficult this can be for couples! It takes a lot of courage to show up & be honest with one another. I utilize warmth, humor & the positive aspects of the couple to help create safety for both individuals in session.
How I View This: Some couples may be experiencing a difficult time and even wondering whether or not they should stay together. “Successful” couples therapy does not necessarily mean that the couple will remain intact. Sometimes the most genuine needs or wants are to continue the life journey together & for others, this may not be the case. My goal is to provide you with a forum to speak openly, gain a sense of empowerment in your life & to show up authentically in your relationship—whether or not you decide to stay together.
ALL couples are welcome!
